Honey Hot Cake

Honey Hot Cake

We linked up with Chef India this summer to support her latest business venture: Sauce Queen! It’s her fresh line of delicious sauces and spice blends and we are here for it, ok.

Chef was kind enough to mail us some goodies; in the box: a few fun recipes, a generous jar of Honey Hot Sauce, a mystery spice blend, adorable mini tongs and the quintessential apron. Whoop! I decided to use the Honey Hot Sauce to make a honey cake. I figured it would be a quick, easy recipe to try and simply replaced the honey with the Honey Hot Sauce. #winnersmindset

Folks, I present to you:

Honey Hot Cake

(adapted from Wendy over at The Monday Box)

Equipment

-9x5” loaf pan

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups AP flour

  • 1 1/2 t baking soda

  • 1/4 cup (half a stick) softened butter

  • 1/4 cup Sauce Queen Honey Hot Sauce

  • 3/4 cup cane sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 1/4 cups unsweetened applesauce

  • chopped nuts for topping (optional; I used sliced almonds)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° and line or grease your loaf pan.

  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk flour and soda. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, cream butter, sugar and honey.

  4. Beat in egg, then the applesauce.

  5. Gradually add in flour mixture, mixing on the lowest setting until just incorporated.

  6. Pour evenly into prepared pan and top with nuts, if desired.

  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

  8. Cool for 10mins in the pan before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Once completely cooled, slice and enjoy!

  10. Wrap in cling wrap and store at room temperature for 5-7 days.

We give this remixed holiday cake recipe five stars! The sauce really kicked it up from being a traditional spiced cake to whoa… what?! We think you can get at least ten healthy slices out of this thing, maybe more if you’re stingy ;)

What say you, fam? Would you try this simple cake recipe at home? Would you like to see more recipes from #yourfavoritebakers? Either way, be sure to support the Queen and her sauces!

Stay safe and take care! xo
